Best Wedding of the year . . . The Quarry / Mt. Vernon, Washington

We have had a HUGE amount of fantastic weddings this year. Prior to two weekends ago, it would have been difficult to pick one as “The Wedding” of the year. But then, Fish and I hadn’t photographed the Hilding / Wallace wedding at that point. OMG !!! This one completely knocked the ball out of the park. And even with rain THE ENTIRE TIME. (YES, IT RAINED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE EVENT)

It was simply awesome . . . .

The facilty – the caterer – the music – the surrounding area and the family, friends and guests were absolutely the best of the year so far. Joseph, The Quarry is a magical place in Mount Vernon, Washington. Simply jaw-dropping. And your staff is second to no other.

Oil Spill – from “Cut off, Louisiana” last weekend . . .

Simon and Madison just got back from Cut Off, Louisiana to cover the catastrophe in the gulf. Here are some sample images from the documentary they shot. In talking to Simon this morning, it looks as though they will be going back in a few weeks for even more. He said that words cannot express the heavy feeling that is abundant in everyone’s lives there now. It is extremely emotional for everyone, and being there, was almost too much to handle.

The faces behind the signs. In Cut Off, Louisiana, the wife and son of a American-Indian Shrimper who, being formally educated only to the 7th grade, lives and breaths shrimp. The shrimp is gone, the shrimping is gone and so is their way of life.

Arthritis Foundation – Jingle Bell Run (World’s Largest)

After shooting the Spokane Jingle Bell Run a few weeks ago, we knew that the one in Seattle would be really big. Big is simply an understatement. Since we have Bloomsday in Spokane, we thought that we would be very prepared for this. OH MY GOD !!!!! This was unbelievable. The massive amounts of participation was mind blowing. The costumes were beyond creative and it went from a beautiful downtown location, to a “standing room only” event, very fast.

So as you can see, this was a LOT of fun. We lost Lisa (Narco) in the crowd for a few hours. Chris (Snake) ripped his pants in the worst place possible. Simon (Fish) forgot that the keys to the rig were in his pocket so he had to bike all the way back downtown. And I attempted to keep them all out of trouble and somewhat near a Starbucks the entire time. All in all – a WONDERFUL shoot……

News about “The Queen” . . .

For those who know her, Jackie “The Queen” is currently undergoing some very trying medical issues. Our hearts are with her and Dan through this heartfelt time and are there for them for “whatever” they might need. Since a few of us have experienced similar trials in the past recent years, we fully know what they are going through right now. I want to be the first to volunteer to shave my head right along with her in order to show my support and understanding of what she will be going through.

And now all of you can laugh your heads off as you know that I will look no where near as good as this guy. Call us if you need anything guys. We are here for you at a moments notice.

Where has “On the edge” been . . . ?

Well, yes . . . we have been very busy shooting several commercial jobs here in the last few weeks. The most recent was the Buddy Werner finals at the Mt. Spokane Ski area. WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME!!!!

Here are a few images from our first day where we took the team photos and had a ball. Too bad the weather turned “less than desired” after this. All 4000+ images are up on the “Images” site if you want to see them. (Better make some popcorn, because it will take you hours to go through them all. And there are more coming tomorrow. We are uploading them as fast as we can.

So this was Simon, Danny Boy, Skye Bird and Myself. It was very cold, long, tiring and pushing the limits of our team. All in all though, we had a great time and enjoyed all the teams, racers and coaches tremendously. We can’t wait to do it again another year.

Soon . . .

So when all you guys think your job is rough . . . . remember what we had to do for this job. From 7:30 in the morning at roughly 17 degree weather, standing on the side of a slalom hill in snowshoes in blizzard snow and a skier coming by your camera about every 30 seconds. Now THATS dedication guys . . . When we say no one beats our team, we “really” mean it.

Here they are. I’m [quite] a bit slower than Deke at the ‘ole image-processing… but I do get ‘er done. We always promise photos online and available “within 2 weeks,” and Deke, most often, releases his events within 2 friggin days!

What can I say… he’s the man

So. The photos in question. On the 26th we did a family shoot – of a really GREAT family. The Salvatoris are always a ton of fun, and this was no exception. We started in the living room, moved to the wine cellar (with a zombie…) and ended making snow angels in 3 feet of snow. I love you guys. Here are some of the more notable shots (click to enlarge):

We have asked Simon to put a few images up from a shoot he did a couple of weeks ago. So far . . . nothing. So here is one from that shoot. If you want to see more and get an explanation of the shoot, you will have to “ask Simon” to put them up.

And yes . . . this lady does an excellent impression of Sarah Palin. (ha . . . )

Africa in August – - – ?

Yes, we are aware that some of you out there have heard rumor of our company going to Africa in August, 2009 to do a new project for a wonderul company and cause. The answer is “yes, this looks highly likely” at this point. The client is very pleased with our proposal and we expect that arrangements and final contractual agreements will be in hand fairly soon. For the client’s privacy and the fact that this is not set in stone yet, we are not letting anyone know any further details. We can tell you however, it is a fantastic opportunity for 5 or 6 from our team. As soon as we have contracts signed and the approval from the client, we will let everyone know specifically where we are going, what we are doing and who this client is. So for now . . . we must zip our lips, sorry.

And no . . . you wont get any further information by calling into one of the guys you know. Hang tight . . . we will let the cat out of the bag as soon as we can.
